I built this kit over the winter, some have seen it, some have not so I thought I would share this quick video showing what I used and how I put it all together since there seems to a lot of interest in solar. Its not fancy but it works great powering all our camp lights, fans when its hot and also charges our led lanterns, phones, tablets and even power tools.

Here are the parts I used...

Very nice. I am planning on a larger version of this to run on my trailer. I'll really like your attention to detail.

Awesome!

Curious what the rough $ investment was if you don't mind? (excluding Pelican case)
Without the case it was roughly $700. Batteries and panel are the biggest cost and depending on your needs it could be a lot less or a lot more. This setup has provided everything we need. Powers camp tunes all day/night/weekend, charged devices, ran tent fan all night and all camp lights including flood lights on flags. The pics below are from 4rth of july camp. We added in a 100' of red white and blue rope lights to celebrate...lol. Barely took the batteries down after 4 days of power usage.
Not bad for primitive camping ...

Ugh…wish I had the time to do this. Maybe in the Fall. Looks fancy enough for me :)
Yeah it works better than I expected. I keep pushing it to see its " limits" but so far it shocks me. My concerns were the conditions...tree shade, clouds etc. but even on cloudy days the monocrystalline panel takes in plenty of charge. 7 trips with it so far this year and Im happy as a pea, now its a test of time. (yrs) lol

This a great build, and attention to detail. Please keep us posted on the limits, if you find them, and I'll do the same when I finish mine.

Thanks !
I have not hit the limits yet but then again i dont push it past our needs. Everything we need it powers and then some. The only addition for power draw in the future would be a fridge but seeing what others use to power yhem i doubt it would be a problem. Look forward to seeing your build.

Hey Glenn,
Do you have links for where you purchased your items from ? Mainly the cords that are red and black and the voltmeter panel. I found the others.

Thanks,

Joe

Great work! Which Pelican case did you use?

Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk
Thanks! Thats a 1650....everything fits nice in there. 2 batteries carry some weight and the pelicans are up to the task with heavy walls for screwing the strapping in. To move this thing i take the batteries out though so i dont kill myself...lol.
