To clarify, if I may, the 40-140 danger zone refers to internal temperature of the food, not necessarily external storage conditions. 140 is generally accepted to be the minimum safe holding temperature for food that has been cooked. Using chicken as an example, however, 140 does not necessarily mean safe unless you're following a pasteurization chart. 165 is the temperature that will pasteurize chicken in 10 seconds or less, which means that the chicken has to be cooked to and held at 165 for that time period (or whatever time/temperature you're trying to meet). After the threshold is met, the general rule is no more than 4 hours of hot holding, although the new food code at work allows for indefinite holding at 140 degrees or above. 4 hours in the temperature danger zone is also considered to be our threshold for disposing of the food as unsafe.

Also I'd give the recommendation to be mindful of the fact that any refrigerator or freezer may not cool the same when fully loaded compared to partially loaded. I've seen stock in a freezer running at 4 degrees thaw out and rot due to the load in the freezer at the time. I'd fully recommend testing it with however much you plan to load in order to ensure that you have the capability that you need.

Bought a TruckFridge TB41A (12v-110v) a few weeks ago, spent weeks trying to find a fridge. Temp goes up (set at 32F 28-34F ) and down some but seems pretty good so far. Has the Dan Foss style compressor (made by the company that bought them).
The TB41 and TB51 are the same foot print, the grey band in the center is just taller. It was $549 shipped, no tax or shipping and got it in just 3 days. 13 1/2" wide X 17 1/2" tall and 23" long without handles. ( I installed just one 2" )

Tried buying a Dometic CFX35 from their site but they neglected to say they would not have they till maybe the end of September. I cancelled my order and got the TruckFrige Told they use a few different compressors.....

So far so good been running a few weeks on 110v. then 12v around town and sitting in the car for a few days. I do have dual batteries and a charging lead from my engine battery to charge while driving and yet separate with ignition is off. It has the low, med, high battery cut off. Switches to 110v automatically when plugged in. One thing is display is on the hinge side so thats funky but its ok for me.

Heading to Black Bear pass Monday and some other areas for a few weeks so I will find out soon. Happy so far.

The dometic fridge claims it can get to 0°f. We will see.

The reviews I've seen showed it will freeze most things solid.

Fridge came!IMG-20200917-WA0010.jpeg

I placed it behind the passenger seat and it fits perfectly.
Will be securing further, with ratchet straps, along with the battery.

I have a dometic CFX75 on my daily driver...use it for work and fun. During this pandemic it became my essential second freezer. It has out performed all my expetations. I now have a full size True temp to replace it as a freezer. Dometic you are on par with True Temp. My dometic is powered by a Rynology solar panel and it is great. Invest in a portable refrigerator...leave the ice behind with the soggy food. Embrace technology.

So its been 45 hours since plugging in my fridge to my 500 watt battery.
It is down to 39% battery. Which, if my math is correct, 1.35 watts per hour.

My solar panel comes today, will be doing another test once battery is dead.

Just got back from doing Black Bear Pass and all the surrounding areas and the TruckFridge TB41A worked fantastic, ran on my "house" battery that was charged off my alternator daily. It was shook and rattled and never missed a beat, quiet and never woke me up either sleeping inside while running 34 degrees. Did all the "Red" trails and Alpine Loop etc. very pleased with it.

Just posting a a FYI.

I see a metal detector and shovel in the back. Garrett AT? I am trying to make room in the back of my Jeep so that I can carry my Equinox with me more often when I go exploring.

Ah this setup is pretty cool!

The panel is putting in about 60-65 watts in, and the fridge is drawing about 5 to 40 watts.

It has pass though charging so that the panel can be charging the battery while the battery is keeping the fridge cold.

I will setup the solar panel in the morning during my adventures, even a few hours will add a great deal of energy to the battery.

So far, im really liking this setup.
