One or two members might be curious to know what happened to me after my last anti-shanty post last year...most everyone will probably be confused by my posting at all. I do a lot of Overlanding these days but from about 500 to 1000 feet above the ground at 60 knots. At 72, I bought a new certified Autogyro Cavalon side-by-side Gyroplane, went through extensive flight and ground training, and now have over 200 flight hours under my belt. I regularly spend 45 minutes on the road to Petaluma Municipal Airport, fly around for one to three hours, then drive home. I fly low and slow compared to fixed wing airplanes. I can fly out to Bodega Bay, down to Half Moon Bay, over to Lake Berryessa, over the wine county, etc. easily on half a tank of gas. For the photographers in the forum, I would consider taking some of you up some time if you would like. Don't worry, I don't plan to post much as it might irritate some members.

Congratulations! Big achievement!!!
Please do post much! When you are flying over land you are overlanding and when you are flying over water you are overwatering ;)
Some day I hope to dust off my pilot certificate; always preferred low and slow so the workload was not too fast and furious and I could spend some time enjoying the scenery.

love it! a dive buddy of mine had a cessna 172 and we'd fly it around. EVERYTHING looks better at altitude. the swamps here are hot and nasty, but get up a ways and they actually look pretty cool.
the world seems more peaceful the higher up you go

definitely do a thread and post your adventures...if anyone is irritated, they can always just not click on the thread. obviously you have folk here interested
