Have a trip planned there for the last week of October, I've been checking that map every week since the first flood, then the second one; anyway, I may have to punt and do the trip some other year.

Yea probably a good idea. We go every November but I am afraid that this year is a bust. You can go to the Mojave Preserve just south it that works for you.
