I am in the process of planning a Death Valley trip for April right now. I was planning to basically do a big loop from Shoshone all the way around hitting all the major sites, then exiting on the southwest after Barker Ranch.

Any advise you have after your trip would be good to hear

This is a pretty good plan, starts at Shoshone as well and even ends up going over Cerro Gordo and dropping out about 10 miles from Lone Pine. Its like 400 miles though, kind of a beast.

I was just there two weeks ago. I did Goler Wash, Barker Ranch and Mengel Pass to Badwater. Awesome trip! Echo Canyon to Inyo Mine is beautiful too!! DSC_0452.JPGDSC_0511.JPGIMG_1016.jpg I wish I could go again this weekend but if all goes right, I'll be a first time Grandpa (AKA Grandude) this weekend!

The first route is similar to what I have mapped out. How do you make a route on Gaia? I tried but it kept moving my tracklines to main roads instead of the side roads I was trying to run. I planned out around 500 miles in the park.

I'll be going solo, how are the "tough" trails? From what I can find, the ones people say are hard are Lippincot and Mengel. I am a very experienced wheeler and from what I have read none of these seem too bad.

I haven't done Lippincot yet but Mengel Pass was pretty easy. One of our friends brought a full size Chevy Truck through with no issues. It did require some careful spotting. Definitely some low range rock crawling but nothing serious.

Just log into Gaia and download the entire thing from my URL, then import it into your Gaia. (I attached them here also if thats easier) GPX and KML

I didnt create any routes, just compiled them from a bunch of different sources.

Thanks. I have tried mapping a route on Gaia, Guru, and Google, they all want to change my route to major roads. So I went old school with a paper map and a sharpie!

Ok, I kind of figured they werent too bad. I spend a lot of time rock crawling and overlanding. So far most of the overlanding stuff hasnt been to tough, but its always a concern when solo.
