New to the OB community. I’ve done a very small portion of DV and it was enough for me to want to return to see more. I’m not 100% on committing as availability is determined by work schedule. However, I’m looking forward to make this work out.

Need to order a radio for this trip, and future ones. I read the Baofeng UV5R is a good choice for the occasional user? Looking for feedback, thank you.
I think the new uv5r does not transmit in the gmrs frequencies but they do sell one that is gmrs specific that looks identical to the uv5r sorry don't know the model number but I'm sure you can find it on Amazon

I just wanted to post an FYI so you all can make informed decisions about the upcoming trip and budget accordingly. As you already know gas prices are high (probably an understatement), but they're even higher in Baker, currently $6.50/gal, and even higher in Furnice creek at $8.75/gal.

I'm expecting prices to increase even more by April 18th.

Thanks for the heads up. Looking forward to making the trip. This will be my first with OB.

For those of you who RSVP'D. If you still plan on attending you don't have to do anything at this time. However, if you no longer will be attending this trip, please remove yourself off the list. Thank you.

The final itinerary will be posted soon. Please pay attention as there may be some changes to our starting location.

Hey all so, I don't know what happened, but I posted the new itinerary from the app on my phone and when I checked today nothing was actually changed. So I rewrote everything and saved it on my computer. I will post it again tonight.

We are still on for the 18th. However there are some important changes to note.

The most being that we are starting in Ballarat Ghost Town.

Hi Joe, love the changes to the trip - ghost town to ghost town. Wanted to just call out that the first day might be a little ambitious. There is a lot to see in Goyer Canyon - the ruins left behind by the miners are fascinating and there are a lot of them. I found a mine once you could walk all the way through the mountain to the other side. But before we get there, there’s a dry falls that might take a little time to get 8 vehicles over. I know I’m going to need a little help to get over it in a timely manner. The good news is, any time we lose on the front end can easily be picked up on the back end.

That's good info. I didn't realize we would be spending that much time in Goyer. But I absolutely agree that time can be made up on the back end. I want us to be flexible so we can just enjoy the experience.
