Howdy everybody!

I had a question about the third gen cummins air intake setups y'all have expirimented with. I am wanting to run a cyclone style air intake, similar to what you would find on some heavier equipment (CATs and the like) but I cannot find anyone who has done this before. I guess the question is, has anyone tried? And would this even be possible?

These systems are designed for equipment that works in dusty and difficult environments and have decent air flow. I am not building the truck for hp numbers, and want a system that is easy to maintain, but keeps dust and debris out of the filter and turbo better then my stock setup.

Thanks for any help and insight guys and gals!!

The only one I've tried is the S&B cold air intake. I've had it on my truck for nearly 15 years now and its been really good. I have to admit, I'm not the best at keeping up on air filter maintenance but it seems to have my back, and they have improved on the design over the years. My filter is about due for actual replacement (its getting a bit beat up) so I might just purchase the complete intake again to get the new design.

I’ve run an AFE cold air intake on my 05 since it was new. Never had a problem. Switched to the dry filter when it came out. I clean it twice then buy a new one. Never had an issue at all. Easy to get at too. If you want the cat style filter I’d get on Cummins forum and search “big honkin air filter conversion”.

We've had them. You'll still go through air filters. They increase filter life noticeably. But if you care about your engine, your air filter changing intervals will be the same.

It might not be worth the effort.
