I am brand new to Overland Bound and somewhat new to overlanding but not new to Jeeps, Jeep forums or offroading. I joined overland bound to get some help from you all with planning a trip cross country.
I am currently located in Central CA and am PCSing to a new assignment in RI some time around January 2021. Traveling with my partner and a dog in a 2019 Jeep JLUR, stock height, fully skidded, and with a winch up front and a RTT on top (with insulator). I will also have a set of traction boards.
I'm in the very preliminary phase of planing but wanted to get input early on.
Here is the rough plan so far:
CA, Death Valley-
AZ, Grand Canyon- Point Sublime campsite (if accessible)
NM, Gila National Forest-
(Day visit) White Sands National Park (dog friendly)
NM, Carlsbad Caverns National Park (day use, on site kennel available)
TX, Sabine National Forest-
I haven't planned from here to Rhode Island. I would love input on sites worth hitting and particular sites to camp if you know them. Remember it'll be the middle of winter so high altitude areas may be unpassable.
Thanks for any help you can provide!
