I'm a newbie over here, but thought I'd extend the invite to a annual event some of us NorCal jeep folk have put on over the years in our local area. It's not exactly a "overland " type run, but you could very well make it one if you so desired. Join us for a day of adventure, exploring what Cow Mt. has to offer. Lots of local areas to camp, venture out, and explore. Make a weekend of it. We will meet up at the Kmart parking lot in Lakeport at 9AM.

Depart from here at 9:30AM with a short caravan to the Lake County side of Cow Mt. OHV. We will end up on the Ukiah side and finish the day with a trip down the mountain into Ukiah. SR101 will get you home.

Looks like fun. How difficult of trails is it?

The main trail is easy 2wd stuff. Many of the harder trails are so overgrown with brush they are impassable with a jeep without serious pinstripping. BLM has been pretty slack on maintaining them. The creek bed on the Lake County side has some trails that are pretty clear, and the obstacle course on Ukiah side also has some clear trails.

I might be interested - I heard Cow Mountain is typically pretty overgrown and has a lot of brush impeding the trail. Is that true?
Many of the trails are, yes. Depending on how many show up, we could run 2 groups for those that don't care about pinstripes, and those that do.
