Hey guys, I sold my truck and trailer a few years ago, and it was a f350 cclb and a m101a3 trailer... so no end in space. When out will the misses I just took... well...everything.

Now I have a Colorado with the 5’2 bed (those 2 inches are important) and will finish converting a trailer this summer..:maybe.

In the mean time I am having an in bed rack made to hold a pair of spares, jack, shovel, fuel, water, maxtrax, Fire entiguisher, arb dual
Compressor box in a storage box, AND a spot for a good cooler.

This is all going to be set up on a slide for an eventual rack for a rtt for when the misses comes with or if I need more of a tent than my ground one.
And then The trailer for even longer trips will hold a fridge and the kitchen sink.

But back to the 5’2 bed, what size cooler will be enough, or is recommended for 2 day, max 3 night camping for one. I’m assuming my camping partners will have their own storage.

The first design round of the bed rack was based around a yeti 50. That’s not the cooler I’ll go with, but that’s the size that initially fit. We can move some stuff, possibly, or eliminate something if i have to get more cooler space... but everything is important at the moment and space is at a premium.

I’m having a hard time picturing a yeti 50 even after looking at the specs.

What SIZE coolers are you guys running for basic 2 day excursions... or 3 day max?

I have four daughters who camp with me. That means a lot of beverages and a lot of grub to keep them happy! I have a RTIC 65 if it helps. Absolutely love the cooler. I don't have a roof rack or trailer, but I can still fit it into the cargo area of my JKU and close the tailgate with no issue. I can measure it if that helps.

If you either can measure the internal size or if you know what the “65” stands for. I know some coolers use the number to mean “cans” and others “quarts”.
Then I can compare it to what I can fit. I have a soon to be 3 year old daughter who I want to take with me everywhere, regardless if the wife comes lol!
So if a 65 handles you and two daughters, I’m sure that will be plenty for us!!!
Plus i can always throw a smaller cooler in the cab for immediate beverages etc!
Thank you so much!

I run a camp chef 52 L & holds enough for me my wife & daughter but I like to use this for stuff your not getting into hourly. Have another ice chest for water & quick snacks. I can last a week no problem with milk eggs etc in my camp chef & still frozen when I get home. Do yourself a favor like I did & do the research you don’t need a $400 cooler to make it all work. Just my 2 cents ✌

Yeah. I watched that video testing all those coolers and things have definitely changed in the last 8 years.
There are much better coolers than the yeti for half the cost!

So yeah. I’m going to go with a 50 ish seeing what you guys are saying.
I can’t remmeber the brand but I think the 50 cooler was around $250 for it.
I need to recheck.

I plan on going with a fatboy70 with wheels. Looks like it has a few extra features with the same quality as yeti for half the price also

cooler weather camping Sally & I like to leave our Engel fridg\freez @ home & we like using our K2 Summit 70qt. This cooler has the divider in it which is a plus for us IMO. We can divide our stuff up. The photo is shown our pre-cooling. Most likely the size I like is too large for you by your size you mention. We do like our Engel 12v. fridg\freez when the weather is warmer then we switch to our Canyon cooler which is smaller in size than our K2 Summit
