Compressor with air tools. Really?

I have been debating on board air. A number of people have mentioned the ARB twin unit is capable of running power tools. I am curious if anyone has actual experience (this or a different unit) using for tools.

IF the unit could be used for some around the house projects requiring an air nailer or brad gun then I can more easily rationalize the expense. :)

I don't use this system but I have seen airtools being run off of it before with my own eyes haha. Get it.

I just bought a Puma 12v compressor. Air tools were not an originally intended priority. However, my motivations for rapid tire filling became greater when I realized that my wife wouldnt love having to wait 40 mins to re-air both our rigs (and honestly neither did I...). So, I ultimately ended up settling on a compressor that can refill both in under 25 mins, which (especially with the tank, puts it in the realm of running air tools. I am not sure I will carry any, though, and I have a compressor in my garage that can do all that just fine.

I honestly might even buy a second compressor just to half the fill time! Or, perhaps grab a smaller portable one to keep in my wife's rig, where mine fills 5 or 6 of our tires and the other one fills the rest.

I love my ARB compressor, it has proven faster then gas station fart pumps at times. But if I intended to run air tools I think I would go with 20# CO2 I know there are a lot of debates out there between the two. I'd want to keep the compressor because when your out of CO2 you are out.

Only a few times it works ok, but runs quite a bit. I have a big compressor for that purpose. For smaller household air tools it would work fine.

That's a good question, as I haven't tried it. I'd imagine it could swap a tire, but wonder if anyone has tried it? Anyone run tools in this manner?

In doing a little bit of research, it looks as though with the tank you can properly supply higher PSI power air tools. The few times I've used it was fine, worked well. The compressor may run often to put air in the 1-gallon tank, that's fine because it's 100% duty cycle and can run no problem.

But then again I also have a 20# power tank and it's awesome. But, it runs out of CO2 quick and I find it terrible
To use in cold temps.

When your out on a trail and need the air for a quick fix. As well before and after prep.. removing a step and air air up the putting said step back on.

A bigger air tank would make using air tools more feasible. More storage capacity will keep the compressor from running constantly as well.

Has anyone ever seen a thread where they made their own portable version of this twin ARB compressor?

I've got one, and don't have room to permanently install it - so I wanted to put it into a Storm Case (about the same size as the one ARB sells), and power it similar to their portable product.

I'm just having a hard time getting it wired correctly to do so.

Putting this on my Christmas list. It battery powered and a “real” air compressor you can use anywhere. I already have more Dewalt stuff and batteries than any person really needs so it makes sense in my case.

Along with Dewalt cordless chainsaw it would be a great combo!

I run a 20# CO2 tank and have for close to 20 years. I use it for airing up 35's and it is real handy for my impact when changing tires. It also works good for setting a bead. Being somewhat handicapped, I carry an air over hydraulic bottle jack. Slide it under and hook up the bottle and presto the rig is up in the air. A few quick blips with an impact and a wheel is off and a new one on. I can change a tire in well under 10 minutes. A compressor would air up tires and run the jack, but the impact would probably not do well.
