Looking at doing a Colorado trip this spring/early summer. Driving from Minneapolis and meeting friends in Denver and starting there, would like to hit the south central and west sides of Colorado on a 7 day trip (not including drive time to and from the Twin Cities). Looking for dispersed camping as much as possible and at least a day or two at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Truck is not lifted and is on stock tires, but is a Tacoma off-road so moderate roads shouldn't be an issue, friends are in a lifted Jeep. Any thoughts or recommendations are appreciated.

First, I would recommend you not come before mid to late June because many of the most popular high elevation trails may not be clear till then.

Is it safe to assume you're looking to do the popular trails around you Ray such as Imogene and Engineer passes?

One or two popular ones would be fine, particularly Imogene, but more interested in off the beaten path trails and camping.
