Matt, hello from just a bit west of you, even closer than
@Greg Eigsti lol, Will be good to hear how long the tire lasts, and if the tread can defend the zip tie's integrity.
With pintle hitches, the key to a quiet ride is a good match between the ring and the pintle hook, I have never had good luck with the combo ball/pintle units, haven't found them to fit the ring as well as a dedicated pintle contributing to the noise and bang transmitted to the tow vehicle. Lunette rings come in 2-1/2" and 3" ID. The combo ball/pintles typically have a 2-5/16" trailer ball and are approved for both ring sizes, though obviously a lot more slop if fitting into a 3" ring. the NATO military standard is 3". Dedicated pintle hooks come in a variety of weight capacities and some of the larger ones will fit tighter in the ring. If you really want to go first class and you have on board air, you can get an air compensated pintle that has a slide that tightens down on the pintle after its connected takes all the slop out and provides a bit of cushion, yet allows smooth turning, those however are permanently mounted and not something most would want if they use standard trailers also. six robblees in Everett carries all kinds of truck and trailer goodies for light and heavy duty vehicles and is a good source of knowledge.
