I have a Rebel Offroad EXPLOR 1/2 rack and I'm looking for suggestions on how to mount a small Husqvarna T435 climbers chainsaw (7.5 lbs) to the inside of the rack. I live in the Chattahoochee National Forest where downed trees are common so I'd like to carry the saw with me on local runs. Anyone use Byte Tyte scabbards?

Never seen one, but they look ok. Friend of mine made a carrier after he saw the Koplin Chain Saw Press. He made to bolt to the inside of his truck bed.

I think the best place for a chain saw, electric or gas is out of the weather in a weather proof container like a Plano box- whether inside or on the roof or rear hitch basket. My chainsaw came with a carrying case so I plan to put it in one of my 3 new 1918 Plano containers with other tools.

I've toyed with adding a chainsaw mount a few times. Honestly I think @ lanlubber hit it on the head. Inside its own weather proof case, preferably out of sight to keep honest people honest. I have 2 saws I can carry with me, one is in its weather proof case, and fits nicely in the bed will all the other gear. The other saw lives in my toolbox. Saws are best kept out of the weather, they run better that way. Honestly id hate to have either saw stolen.

The better brands offer plastic storage boxes to fit their products. All you need is to pick a spot to mount it. With a Wrangler I packed mine in the cab..... but I don't recommend that option. I'd prefer to keep anything gas powered outside.

Once you put it in the plastic box you can mount the box anywhere

I have a big orange box that I bought with my saw, and I just toss it in the back if I think I'm going to need it. I like the idea of an outside clamp setup though, if you're going to be using it a lot, like on a forested route. In and out of the box repeatedly is a hassle. There is inevitably gas, oil mix; bar and chain oil; sawdust and associated mess when you're using it a lot.

I drain all gas and oil, run the saw until it does. Then remove bar and chain. Put chain and wrench in a plastic baggie and all the parts go under the back seat. It would also for under the hood. I have a quart of gas in a can. I only need the saw ever year or two so if it takes a few minutes to put together no big deal
