I have found that overlanding is a great way to spend one's retirement income. The choices are unlimited!

The thought has crossed my mind.... I expect to retire in the next 4-7 years.... So, I have a few years to perfect my Overlanding skills and kit.

I did pretty much the same thing before I retired with the rig I have now. Mine is geared toward getting in AND OUT of remote fishing spots. Just depends on what your goals are and how comfortable you need to be. Maybe a few other minor parameters.
