2 weeks on the NMBDR, ERT, and some wandering.
I was having difficulty deciding which of the 2 to do, the New Mexico Backcountry Discovery Route, Enchanted Rockies trail, or the Shadow of the Rockies trail. I decided I certainly wanted to do the NMBDR heading north (after the urging of @Downs ) and I would decide the way south sometime...

I did the NMBDR the last week of August 2024, of course it crisscrosses the CDT several times, and I've spent time in NM on some of the other areas too, so looking forward to this.

I've done camping and off-roading but this will be the first overlanding. I'm hoping someone with experience will join the trip, because this is one thing I don't want to learn the hard way.Have you overlanded NM before?

Yeah, I've got the route already loaded in Gaia and I used Gaia for the NM BDR too.

Yeah, unfortunately any time you head out west these days you have to include checking recent fire reports and if a trail has washed out after a recent fire.You might check this out for fire info;
