  • Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

Davis, NC is where you catch the ferry that you would cross over to the Island. Here are some sites to call for a reservations to insure you get a spot on the ferry.

If you plan to do a lot of driving on the beach bring extra gas. There is gas availible on the island, but it is about twice the price on the main land. Gas, diesel, and ice are the only things for sale on the island. If you want it, you need to bring it. There are cabins to rent with water and hot shower, if you want electricity, you need to bring a generator. Camping on the beach is free, the ferry is the only cost to get you there. My wife and I had a great time the three time we have been there. The green head flies are bad durring the middle of summer. We will never go again when they out. They bit like a horse fly.
