Whole-heartedly support double-checking for private ownership in places, however, I think you're mistaken here. Both GAIA and OnX show the route as a right-of-way through land owned by Scenic Vistas, LLC. Signs at either end indicate that high-clearance vehicles be used...that's it. The only questionable data I've ever seen on that route is it being listed as 2-way . Someone's backing up a very long way through some very tight stuff if you come across oncoming traffic!

<The only questionable data I've ever seen on that route is it being listed as 2-way> so which direction is the preferred way to go? East to West?

Fair question that I have no answer to. I've always gone west to east and found stream crossings, etc. to be easy to do that way. I've, honestly, done it four? times and never actually had to deal with oncoming. But...yeah...it's causes a bit of anxiety to think about. And that's when I had my first gen Sequoia that was Rhino Linered. I just laughed at the vegetation scraping along it. Not sure I even want to attempt to wedge my Power Wagon w/ camper shell through there without sending someone way ahead to radio back that there's traffic.
