...does anyone have any Gaiagps spots to share that are west of 395, but north of Mammoth? We're going through the Tioga Pass, so need somewhere to camp for a few days for free.

not to hijack but planning to hike half dome with chains iirc the last week in july ( we have permits) any suggestions, coming from san diego.

Kinda confused? Are you looking for West side of the Sierras or just West of 395 and East side of Sierras? Or since you might be coming from Port Hueneme(where my parents met) just the East side off Sierras. Some places like just off Hwy 167 have many places or a little further on the Anchorite hills there are trails to campsite; 38° 11' 39"N 118° 41' 09"
