A few from my last trip to the Ouchita Ntl Forest with my kiddos and a buddy of mine.

Night one east of Talimena Oklahoma off of the Talimena Skyway.

Night 2 at a creekside campsite north of Athens Arkansas.

Night 3, unsure of exact spot without looking at GAIA but it was somewhere east of Mount Ida, Ar.

Night 4, Mount Hickory which is on the south side of the Ouchita Lake/River.

On the way to camp. . .

Riding along a high levee in Cajun Country.

Looking forward to getting back there soon for more canoeing and photography in the bayous and basins.

I always start humming CCR's Green River when I'm down there...

Well, take me back down where cool water flow, y'all
Let me remember things I love
Stoppin' at the log where catfish bite,
Walkin' along the river road at night,
Barefoot girls dancin' in the moonlight.
I can hear the bull frog callin’ me
Wonder if my rope’s still hanging’ to the tree
Love to kick my feet way down the shallow water,
Shoe fly, dragon fly, get back to your mother
Pick up a flat rock, skip it across Green River
~ John Fogarty, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Green River
...
Though the song was actually written about a place in California's Sacramento Valley, and named after a soda fountain syrup flavor (songwriter John Fogerty's fav flavor as a kid when vacationing along the Putah Creek), he imagined himself in a Cajun setting, so wrote the song with what he imagined to be a swamp groove.

Green River, as a place name, is kind of like Springfield...a lot of states have one. As a result, Green River as a song hits home for a lot of folks.

I just dig the evocative lyrics, which came out in the late 60s when I was still a teen; about walking along river roads at night, barefoot girls dancing in the moonlight, Cody's cabin, flat-car riders and cross-tie walkers, etc.
...

Sounds like a plan. You wanted to learn more about night sky photography too, if I remember right, and I'm interested in learning more about your wood-turning.
