Bilsteins for overlanding

Question who is running Bilsteins on their rig and what are the pros and cons that you have found.
I installed some 5100s on my tundra to level it out and trying to decide if I should add some 5160s on the rear or save up and get something like Icon,Fox or Kings.

I have factory Bilstein/TRD Pro suspension. It is very soft. I may switch to a stiffer dampner/spring combo when I get a front/rear bumper combo. There is a lot to factor in when choosing spring rates, valving rates and wheel travel allowances. I say, map out your goals with your rig via weight requirements and wheel travel allowances. Only then can you decide what type/function you require. Some people go through many different iterations of suspension setups before they settle on exactly what works for them. Good luck.

Running 5100s. I run with a lot of weight and they feel a little softer than I'd like. If I had to do it over again I'd go adjustable, probably bite the bullet and go with a BP-51. But all that said, it's not that I'm unhappy with them, I just see what I'd "like" to have.

Thanks for input guys I will have to figure out weights for the truck 1st. This will be just a weekend overland setup for my rig so nothing to crazy with a lot of weight

I have the 5100's on all 4 corners and I'm pretty happy with them. Much better than OEM. My rig is big and heavy regardless if it is empty or full and seems to feel the same. As needs change I may upgrade but for now they perform just fine.

Running adjustable 6112s in front and 5100s in rear with toytec springs on my 4runner. Very happy even under moderate load. I personally would hold off on 5160s due to the numerous failures of the shock and lackluster 90 day warranty. I'm sure over time Bilstein will hammer out the Kinks with the 5160s, just not now.

Thanks outward bound from r the input and the info on the 5160s and the failure issues they have.
I think I will stick with what I have for now and if plans change or needs change I can upgrade.
Now to save for wheels and better tires [emoji106]

When I bought my truck it had the 5100s and I changed them to Fox all around. The ride with the bilsteins wasnt awful buy theres a noticeable difference between them and the Fox. The Fox ride so much smoother and are definitely better suited for off road travel. If I were you I would save up more and get what you want the first time and don't settle. Suspension and tires are places where you should never sacrifice because of cost.

Fox 2.0 IFP would be my recommendation if you do moderate off road stuff. They are rebuildable dampens well thus far great off road for me. Spend a little more but worth it IMO.

I am very happy with my 5100s.. That being said I'd love to go to some custom Kings eventually.
