Planning on taking the family on a week long trip at the end of May. It just be me, the misses and my almost 2 year old. We will be traveling from SoCal up to the Sequoia NP and from there headed towards the coast and loop back down towards home. If anyone has any advise on trails or off grid camp spots, we would be greatly appreciated. As we are getting fed up with normal campground noise. Thanks for checking out the thread.

FYI: highway one is still closed south of Gorda! They estimate having it open around september. You can still get to big sur from the north, or on Nacimiento Ferguson road from the east. But that might be a long drive from the sequoias... especially with a 2 year old.

I'm not sure what part of the Sequoias you plan on visiting, but I have stayed at Nelder Grove campground once. It is first come first serve and there will be people there on the weekend but my 2.5 year old son enjoyed it there. Plus the yosemite mountain sugar pine railroad is close by and a fun day trip http://ymsprr.com
