Hey guys!! A little bit ago I purchased some BFG KO2s for the 80. Now I've heard that some people have experienced cracking and dry rot by 10-12k. Just wondering if anybody else has had this same experience! Positive news on the KO2s welcome too!

I've only seen good things in the forums on KO2's. I just bought a set for my 17 Tacoma DCSB. Hope they don't dry-rot in 10k miles...

I've heard horror stories of the same magnitude, but I really have yet to see it in person.. It's mostly internet fables I think..

I have had mine for just under 10,000 miles and they more or less look brand new. And they have been pretty abused. I'm liking them a lot so far. Only time they've not gotten me through was a steep muddy uphill climb, they caked up pretty quick in thicker mud.

Maybe it's folks who live in extremely dry and hot conditions that experience any sorting of cracking

I put a set on my 80 about 15K ago and have nothing but good things to say. I never spin my tires going over rocks, great on the street in the rain. If they crack replace them under warranty.

I've just fitted a set of KO2s to my LR130, and as expected, has improved the road handling and ride. I do around 500 miles a week (the truck is my daily driver), so it'll be interesting to see how the go.
I've used BFGs for years on the L200 (both ATs and MTs) and never had a reason to complain. One set of ATs lasted over 50K before I changed them and they still had 3 or 4mm of tread left and no signs of cracking.
As said, prolonged exposure to direct sun may have an effect over a long period of time.

I'm seriously considering a set of the 34 10.5 17's. The biggest complaint I hear about the BFG K02's is that they run small.

I've got 35k on mine. Wears great, still lots of tread. I have them on my 4runner, FJ Cruiser and off road trailer. No issues.

A full year on our KO2's, including many miles of off road travel, a 6000km road trip to Colorado and back, and a 200km limp home with the rear locker stuck on ....and not a single negative issue to report with the tires. They have lived up to and exceeded their expectations, and when it comes time for new tyres, I'll be purchasing the KO2's again.

I've been running my KO2's for the better part of a year, approaching 10k and they've held up great. No evidence of cracking or other concerns. For what it's worth, I've run KM2's for 40k+ as well as and various flavors of BFG's for many years prior and no issues. I'm not married to BFG and have run a variety of other brands successfully as well. My bet is the cracking/dry rot issues are a myth or possibly due to vehicles being parked for a long time.

I've been extremely impressed with the KO2 and wrote a long-term review about them in OutdoorX4 Magazine's Issue 16. I've put 55k miles on my current set on our 100 Series Land Cruiser and have at least 12-15k more miles left. The key is maintaining proper pressure regularly and rotating your tires every time you change your oil.

You can read all about it at issue16.outdoorx4.com
