Welcome, all. I have put together a pair of videos showcasing how to both map and scout overland routes by using established offroad trails, as well as starting from scratch. These videos will demo these skills using free software, files, and resources.

Cal Topo's interface is highly-intuitive. And if their mobile environment doesn't suit you, you can still use their browser interface to create your tracks, then plug them into MyTrails/Hema/Gaia/what-have-you.

This is awesome. I will have to look at the videos when I get home tonight. I just bought a vehicle specific tablet for navigation so I am looking for the best interface for offroad navigation. Thank you for this!

I really like that Cal Topo , I have never seen that one and appears to be a very kool program. I am gonna spend some hours trying to learn that one for sure ! Never enough hours in a day...lol
