Hi all
I am reaching out from here in NewZealand
I am wanting information on how your beaches are managed and if you have a permit system or managed access for 4x4
We currently have a beach that has had access for driving since the automobile came along
There has been a lot of controversy due to reckless driving involving death and the last one being this past weekend.
We have permit system to redgister your vehicle but not all do so
There is no gate management with only a police presence occasionally
To keep the beach open we are looking at a manned gate system with small charge for access or something along those lines

What I am keen to find out is where this has been done around the world and especially the US and Australia
I have been to both countries and have seen either Ranger or police presence at entry points
We want to hear about your experience with this system and comments good or bad to work out what to do next
We have several beaches that are becoming an issue for all of the above reasons and need to work on it now before loosing our right to access in a safe manner

Appreciate your Coments

In general I am not in favour of beach driving (details on request), however based on our experience:

In Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, and Peru, at least where we've been, there's no permit system - people just drive onto the beach.
