Battle Born Battery troubles

ok...now on a more serious note...

as a community, I think we should band together and help Battle Born in their time of need. BB needs damage control and some really good PR. they need a mascot or a spokesman to win back the trust of the American consumer...

Energizer has the bunny...

Eveready had Robert Conrad daring you to knock the battery off his shoulder...

So a battery known to be not working properly was sent to another individual who took a saw to it and cut it open, only to find out it continues to not work properly?

Battery should have been returned for warranty as soon as first problem was discovered.

Keeps getting better. BB are overpriced pieces of crap and they picked the wrong guy to try and BS.

I was just about to post that video but you beat me to it by a bit. I did update the thread over on ExPo with it, though.

Someone will probably say "Well, the batteries aren't expected to constantly cycle at the full rates all the time!" and to that I say those are the continuous rates provided by BB themselves. If the battery cannot actually handle being used at the continuous charge and discharge rates without the BMS cutting power then those are not real continuous rates. One could argue it's actually false advertising to make such claims if they can be proven to be false with lab equipment.

Will also addresses this in a pinned comment on the video.

A continuous rating on any electrical device means that at a given temperature (usually room temperature) the device should be able to function continuously. This is not a "stressful" test. It is normal. If an inverter has a "continuous rating of 5000W", it should be able to power that continuously, 24/7.

A deeper dive into the "superior" design of the BB batteries... :tearsofjoy:

The class action attorneys should add all the YouTube , social media shills touting how “fantastic” these over priced pieces of shit all over social media.

During Covid every Overland Yota Bro and influencer were wetting their panties shilling these.

robin swapped out the lead acid battery in the batmobile for a Battle Born lithium battery...

Am I in the minority thinking to steer clear of brand names like Battle Born, Iron Man, Iron Horse, Rugged Ridge, Rough Country, Skyjacker, etc etc? Just a thought..

I tend to avoid "Trendy named" products or accept only for a specific use case.

yeah, trendy named products usually trigger my innate skepticism...but marketing overall has me wondering just how these big companies actually view us as consumers...

these are Chinese lithium batteries sold on Temu. 100ah for $100 while Battle Born 100ah batteries go for $900. apparently the Chinese marketing firm thinks that if they put an eagle, flag, or statue of liberty on something, Americans will buy it. or name it 'kingboss'.

I guess I'll apply the same technique to picking batteries that I did when I had my construction company and took bids...the highest bid was eliminated because it was too high and the lowest bids were eliminated because they were obviously too low to be of quality. so...shoot for the middle I guess

I use 2x 12v 100Ah "Watt Cycle" batteries based on videos from Will Prowse. I could try to tell you why but you're better off watching his videos.

They're about 200 each. A few of my family members have bought them also, and everyone I know has had a great experience with these batteries so far.

I picked up two EcoFlow 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries when they launched (Will has a video on them and thinks they're good) for $199/ea, they're now on sale for $129/ea and have a 5 year warranty. They're also not a random Amazon/Alibaba brand that you may or may not get good after-sale support from, so if anyone is looking for inexpensive 100Ah batteries from a well-known brand I can't recommend these enough.
