It was put out in 2017 that Walmart corporate didn’t want boondockers any more... some stores just chose to ignore corporate... here they had no choice... it’s county law that you can’t park in a parking lot over night... in fact, can’t even live in an RV on your own property legally here... but you can rent an RV space to live in... not sure how that works... it I know it’s true because I live in my RV, and I got cited for living in it in my own property and was told I had to move to the RV park where I have been for the past year.

Sounds like you need a free state to live in. I can't even imagine, I'm having a tiny home 400sq ft made and I'm putting it on my property and tearing down my old house. The tiny home is classified as an rv no rules or regs where I'm at about anything except if you put in a new septic tank you have to get it inspected once a year which I won't be doing since I already have a older system thats grandfathered in.
Even electrical the power company will run line to the meter box but will not touch between the box and the house thats up to the owner to hook up again no inspection needed.

Dont worry. Covid will fade away in the next 12-24 months and with it will be far fewer people out camping. They will be back in doing "city" stuff. Along with that will be a BOOM on used camping gear and massive amounts of used overland and RV trailers at steep discounts. That will be followed by trailer manufacturers dropping prices on new and little to no wait times on builds.

Truth. And the housing price spike will go back down to normal. Just before COVID I was looking. Then, BANG! A lot became available at lower prices for about a month (when nobody was venturing out). Then prices shot up like crazy. I'm telling the lady for the last few months "No. We aren't buying during a frenzy. It will settle down. Then we can buy smartly"

Same thing happened with travel trailers, as you mentioned. Glad I have a camp topper on my pickup.

well, the bottom line is that the only way to get people interested in ANYTHING is to make it beneficial to them. people like us on here, benefit from getting out and exploring and enjoying nature. government people sitting behind desks that don't like the outdoors get zero benefit from "boondocking". i would like to suggest a license be issued for boondocking just like hunting and fishing licenses. hunting and fishing is still allowed because there is money generated by issuing licenses. hunters make messes and leave shit all over and act a fool just like everyone else...except they are generating revenue...why else is hunting still allowed? with al the gun control stuff that has been going on over the years, it would seem that people running around all over shooting at innocent animals would certainly have ended by now, but it hasn't. i'm pretty sure that if citizens paid a license fee for boondocking and a recognizable amount of revenue was generated by it, boondocking would be getting a lot easier and a lot more accepted

Don't be in a rush to encourage them to take money....If they can get you to except a $50 fee this year...They know that will do two things
1) condition people to buy to access PUBLIC lands.
2) allow them to limit the number of people by raising the fee and/or limiting the number of permits sold each year..

That's probably to avoid looking certain areas around Seattle and Portland where RVs are being used as semi permanent encampments anywhere they'll be left alone. It's a real problem due to the trash they pile up around them.

Most rv parks at least around here dont meet koa standards and ive never heard of a rv owners association. Here the rv park owners don't really care for each other too much since its competition and not too many folks that aren't criminal want to stay there aka most of them are methamphetamine or pill communities, places you wouldn't care to stay at unless you want to have stuff stolen or worse.

Maybe in your area but America isn't the same in all places.

ARVC, I've met with members personally. They lobby at the federal and state level on behalf of rv park owners nationwide. KOA isn't a group that other campgrounds meet requirements of, they are a national chain of campgrounds that also have their own lobbyist. BRC reps that I know have met with them over initiatives like allowing open toyhaulers with pop-up tents.

There are also informal groups like the Campground Owners Association and RV Park & Campground Owners and Managers. Some OHV groups already monitor input to and from those groups so they know what their sentiment is towards the off road community as a whole.

Not trying to argue, just educate people that there are already steps taken to prevent issues that we already face, from getting worse. And talking to land use organization representatives that's a nationwide issue, not just in my area.

We've already lost areas at Katemcy and Nocona in TX. A couple of parks in OK, and in Tennessee, Arkansas and others in the east. We're currently fighting to keep Oceano dunes open to OHV use, and the Sierra Club is fighting to close areas in Oregon and Utah.

was literally driving in on a carpet of shotgun shells. bad enough they didn't pick them up, but even worse it's a protected area- no discharging firearms at this place.

Yeah that's not cool. Good on you, what you did there. Last time I was pheasant hunting I happened upon just a couple spent shells and picked them up. Got me thinking a little. Over the last few hundred years, how much lead shot is sitting in the topsoil in any one hunting area
