Well!

Finally some progress to report.

I am now the proud owner of a CVT Mt.Shasta Extended Pioneer Series RTT :-)

The wife picked that out im along for the ride....

The factory Toyota T-Force Roof rack was a nice rack and all... but not enough for this so i am looking at making a purchase...

what do you guys think?

or

I saw a Gobi the other day... not bad... i may be convinced to buy one. But for now i dont see how they justify that price.

Thanks to all in advance!

Peace, Love, and 4x4

With any RTT, you want to make sure you're rack is low and has as many mounting points as possible - directly to the roof. Otherwise, and more importantly, you need to make sure the rack looks EFFING AWESOME! Which these do...

All of the above!

The expanded metal looks good.
But the bars look great for tying down stuff...

Thats why im on the fence about them.

I like the low profile alot

Congrats on the RTT! Definitely on my list of future purchases.

I've read a lot about quality issues on the BajaRacks - specifically for the 5th Gen 4Runners. The Gobi seems to be the most popular option, and as @Steve mentioned there is a GB going on now at T4R. But of course with Gobi the wait is really long and the communication is pretty non existant unfortunately.

I went with the Prinsu Designs rack after a ton of research. http://www.prinsudesignstudio.com/ Made in the USA, Aluminum (to keep the weight down as this is my daily driver) low profile and I really like the way it looks. Totally modular as well! Zach, the owner has been great with communication and the lead time was spot on with what was quoted to me. He has a great following in the Tacoma and LC community as well. Would definitely purchase again based on all the options on the market as this one just fits my needs the best and the quality is really nice for the price.

I'd also take a look at the FrontRunner Outfitters rack, it's a really nice option too.

Like I mentioned, I did a ton of research before I pulled the trigger - feel free to ask any questions and I'll be glad to share what I learned!

I personally have never been a fan of BajaRack. They look cool but I think they're a little more form than function. Front Runner is always my first choice for roof racks due to their inherently low profile, modular design and plethora of accessories. Makes adapting the rack to your chosen use simple. They have a couple different options for the newer 4Runners and can build you something for the full length of the roof if that's what you need. My lady is looking for a 5th Gen herself and will eventually be getting a Front Runner as will my 2017 Tacoma.

Prinsu would be my second choice.

Here in Ohio, I wanted to go with aluminum due to the salt in winter. That left Prinsu, FrontRunner, and K2. We stopped in Salt Lake City on our cross-country trip and saw Paul May at Equipt. I really liked the K2, but a 2.2 meter full length for the 4Runner is $1350, and the Prinsu is going to be about $750 with the group buy. It, the ladder, and the MaxTrax together will cost less thant he K2 with a couple hundred left over.

What swayed me towards the Prinsu over the Frontrunner was the aesthetics of the full length versions- which I felt the Prinsu wins. To me, the full length Frontrunner was just too much of a flat top cargo pallet look as it was originally designed to be a 3/4th fit but the Prinsu has the stylized end rails that really fit the body lines of the 5th Gen T4R and looks right at home sitting up there.

Honestly though you can't go wrong with either choice as the Frontrunner allows SO many cool attachments that are already designed and in production!
