It's about that time of year again for the largest amateur/ham radio event of the year for North America. Hams and ham clubs across the county will be setting up stations operating off generator and solar/battery with temporary antennas from parks, fire stations, EOCs, etc.
The event runs for 24hrs and simulates a disaster or grid down scenario with the intent to make contacts with other Field Day stations around the country or world.
If you are interested in amateur radio or thinking about maybe upgrading to a general license this is a good time to get some hands on with various radios/antennas. Clubs are always looking for help to set up.
Many clubs also have GOTA (Get on the Air) stations where visitors to their field day site can get on and operate as well.
