For those who use APRSdroid, a fellow ham NA7Q Michael Phelps has taken APRSdroid and updated it. He is also responsible for bringing back the SMS messaging ability to APRS. He has added the ability to digipeat and igate, added imperial measurements, changed the way that speed/direction display on the received packets, created a HUD (heads up display) to work in conjunction with APRSdroid, updated the offline map process, added the Mic-E compressed beacons and statuses, and the ability to sort incoming packets by distance or recently received. I am sure I am missing some of the smaller updates, but he has done quite a bit of work. He has also played with adding the ability to send static packets such place markers (i.e. could mark campsite so friends could see it on their aprs), perhaps that will make it to production.
