Are you running a 12v fan on 9v? does it heat up the motor running the lower power and how long will the battery last when running it that way?
I haven't done a long run time yet. I'll try it this afternoon.

Fan ran for about an hour before the battery fell to the fan's minimum voltage threshold of 8 volts.

Here's an update, I got tired of the big vent with bulky electric motor and went back to basics.

Vent from a house, Lowes number in the pic below

Replaced the 1/8 metal screen for fine window screen

Screwed it all together and parked where the wind blows through. Kept the car cool during the day and the mosquitos out.

I made some window inserts out of plywood about 8 years ago. They fit into the window seal and are curved to seal against the glass, the backs are covered with window screen.

I keep meaning to make new ones out of plastic, but through rain and snow these have held up and are still working fine.

I really like this guy from YouTube's solution that he got from 410 Expedition Canadian Overland and improved on. His channel is Vagabond Expedition.
....but at the end it seems unfinished. I would get some refrigerator magnet seal from the door of an old frige or buy new replacement stock from Lowes, or maybe even a magnetic tool holder you hang on the wall then stick tools to it; and stick on the door thus holding down the screen tight. Anyway, here is his video and the screen part comes in about 2:30 into it, enjoy.....

Wonder how well that screen would deter water from coming in in the event it rains?

I wanted to have the same capability whilst out offroading and found the following window vent solution for my Jeep JK Unlimited. I also tend to sleep in my jeep. Some thing like this might suit your needs.
View attachment 22155
Despite being easy to remove, I leave them permanently in place even when I am not planning to sleep in the jeep as they help to cool the inside of the jeep down on very warm days, which is very common in California. The only downside is a slightly increased road noise whilst driving at highway speeds. They are very secure and well made. I have had mine for almost two years and they are still in excellent condition. They have not aged at all.
The German-based manufacturer, Nakatanenga, also sells some of their products on EBAY and has made versions of these vents for the Jeep Wrangler JK, Land Rover Defender, Toyota Landcruiser J150, Toyota Landcruiser J8, Jeep Cherokee XJ, Nissan Navara D40, and Land Rover Discovery 1/2/3/4 to name just a few. They also sell an adjustable, universal version for those models that they do not yet produce a specific solution for. All window vents are sold in pairs.

I did some measuring, and the JK version should fit the WJ. Might need a hair buzzed off one side, but we shall see once I get a set and test fit them.

Quick search provided this on Window Socks

Advertised for 'baby protection from sun' but do a great job against mosquitoes and flies.
Not so good for heavy rain I'd guess and absolutely no security...

FWIW, YMMV.
