Subaru Forester, XV/Crosstrek, Outback, Impreza owners can anyone measure the diameter of their Subaru wheelwell openings front and back, and tell me what size tire you are running? Also what Subaru is the best bet for Overland with a manual trans???

I work for subaru and I had a 13 Crosstrek, largest tire you can fit with or without a lift is 215/75R15 or any size that measures about 28" The wheel wells go vertical so there's no way around it without cutting. The All-terrains are 215/75R15 in the picture. The Blizzaks are 215/65R17. Neither one rubbed during normal driving, but when my bikes were on my hitch rack it would rub if I hit a big enough bump. Once lifted nothing I did would make them rub. Wheel offset would also play an important part in whether it rubs.

Thanks for the info, thats about what my FocusRS has as well. Any thoughts on subaru durability and what model would be best to tow trailer overlanding? I had a friend years ago with a legacy wagon (now outback) that auto trani would overheat and slip all the time when abused.

Depends, the newer stuff is a bit better but no longer comes in a manual trans. Honestly I think a 3.6R Outback CVT is ideal for overlanding as far as overlanding in a Subaru goes. The high-torque CVT (14-19)seems to hold up better than the 5 speed autos in the older 3.6 cars. Hope this helps.
