Enthusiast III
Hey all,
Been a while since I’ve posted. I’ve been busy working on other projects. Along with my Disco 2 8’ve been splitting time with my LR3 I bought for a steal during Covid before used car prices shot through the roof. It’s an 05‘ LR3 SE. after bringing it home. I replaced all fluids, oil, diffs, transfer case, transmission fluid. Replaced a few parts but other than that it’s been a pretty solid ride. I plasti-dipped the wheels black and slapped on some Goodyear wrangler duratracs, in 265/65r/18 size.. Recently replaced the front airbags as I sprung a leak in one. Thought about doing a coil conversion, but decided why would I do that. The whole point in a LR is the traction control features. I rebuilt my compressor as it was a little tired. Let’s see…. I picked up a Frontrunner rack and an alu-cab awning which I absolutely love off of Craigslist.
it’s been a solid ride. I drove it out to Colorado for hunting season in late 2020 about 3 months after I bought it. Made it there and back in stock form. Only issue I had was compressor issue, so I had no terrain response but I was able to get back into our families hunting hole. Did so well my brother went and bought a Land Rover. I was actually gonna take my Disco 2, but got to the other side of Atlanta and she started acting up, so I went home moved all my gear and took off in the lr3.
Here is a picture from hunting, stock form.
After I got home from hunting first thing I did was buy new tires and rebuild my compressor.
Then I decided I was gonna try the plasti-dip
Went ahead and did the hood on both Land Rovers
Wanted a pro-speed rack, but shipping is crazy from across the way and found a really good deal from a fellow service member Tyler. Along with the rack he parted with his alu-cab awning. Almost bought his rooftop tent, but it was too big for what we need.
This is where she sits currently. If I could focus on one project at a time… Now I’m back to my Disco 2. Gotta rebuild the transfer case on that one now.
