I will be attending this year along with one of my boys. Last year it happened to coincide on the same weekend as our camping trip and the solar eclipse but this year should be awesome.

Might just do camping at Oxford the night before - we will see.

Trip Agenda for those who've not been on this before

For those starting out in Georgetown:
Begin showing up at ~0700 and meet in the Academy parking lot and depart at 0730
Please make sure you have enough fuel to at least get to Marble Falls as we will not be stopping along the way

For those starting out in Marble Falls:
Begin showing up at ~0900 and meet at the HEB parking lot near the gas station and depart at 0930

Along the way:
  • The trip will be approximately 9-10 hours long with a stop for lunch (usually around 2pm) at Cooper's BBQ in Mason. Please plan snacks/drinks accordingly.
  • There will be several stops along the way for photos, rest breaks, etc.
  • There should be a few small water crossings, with the highlight of driving across the James River after we depart Mason.
  • There will be an opportunity to do some light rock crawling, exploring and picture taking on the other side of the James River.
  • The trip will officially end at the Doss Store and Country Kitchen in the town of Doss. From there, folks can decide to either continue to Fredericksburg, head to a campsite, or travel back home.
  • Comms will be GMRS channel 15

I’m planning to meet up with you at 310 and 71. I’m guessing you’ll be there around 10am?

Does anyone know if there is a burn ban? Debating taking a propane fire pit if there is one.

Oh dang. Was packing up the truck, using a 16”
tall stool to help climb in and out of the bed. Stepping down and the thing slid out from under me. I landed hard on the concrete. Don’t think anything is broke. But I know it happened.so tomorrow morning we shall see how I feel. But she is packed up, dead body style tent across the back.
