First, honest truth. Been in CA most my life and never really explored 395. I know, shame on me.
So the family and I usually take 5-7 days during their spring break to hit a place we have never been. 3yrs ago we did Moab, 2yrs ago was Sedona and last year was Sand Hollow. Now I want to try 395, Bishop and south. Spring break 2023 will be the first week in April. I’m sure it’s still going to be cold, 30s at night looking at the almanac. Should we worry of any road closures? I wouldn’t expect anything short of a significant weather event. We’ll be in a ground tent for three nights likely.
If there are any trails that you recommend to avoid crowds and to find those campsites I’d love to hear. Also any cool sights that might interest kiddos. They are hikers so they love to hit trails. Any mining stuff or ghost towns would get the wife excited as well.
When it gets closer I’ll try and narrow down my itinerary and maybe throw out invites. It’s usually my brothers and my family on these trips but we may be solo so some company might do some good.
