What's their range of pressures? Staun makes a couple different deflators based on the PSI range you're typically using. It's nice that the JTB have the PSI reading on the shaft. Staun's are .5 or 1 turn per PSI.

View attachment 9812 Super convenient and saves the knees/back. I use a brand called EZDelfator. 20 bucks on Amazon well spent.
I have a set of those and I gave them up for an ARB captured valve stem core deflator. In my experience, these don't do a good job staying calibrated and there is a lot of variation between tires. The last time I used mine I had one tire go down about 5 PSI and stop while two others were still airing down at 10 PSI when I calibrated them for 20 PSI.

I decided to get the ARB one because I could quickly and easily get to the exact PSI I wanted, if I want 25 PSI because the surface is pretty good, I can get to it just as easily as 15 PSI. I can also set the correct pressure if I need to keep a little more in the rear tires due to the load I'm carrying. It's just more precise and more flexible than the EZDelfators.

The PSI gauge on those is great, but like others said how accurate? I have the Staun's now and its a pain adjusting them, but I prefer that hassle over having to walk tire to tire with the ARB deflator.

My big thing with the screw on types is being able to continue doing other rig related preflight check list stuff. I do the fine tuning of air pressure before heading off on the trails. I wouldn't and don't trust them to be a set and forget type of item. These just get me close to the desired PSI. But I will say they've been pretty spot on when I go to check the PSI. Also to note, I recalibrate mine every time before I go out. I use a wheelbarrow tire to set them. Super easy.

Before I got the Arb unit and was still using the stauns, my friends with the arb would get done airing down before I could.
The arb with the core removal is extremely fast [emoji100]!

I'm generally lazy and want my air downs done fast.. So I use a gauge and a valve stem removal tool.. That being said I like those air down tools in the op...

Danger already said it, but... It's nice to be able to do other tasks while your tires air down, or even continue to drive. If the ARB style deflator is as fast as you make it out to be, it may be worth a try!

I made the switch to the ARB captured-core removal system from the "automatic" deflators. The ARB ends up being faster because you don't have to fine-tune the deflation; those automatic ones just don't work very well for very long. The first year I had them, they seemed great, but I think the springs, or diaphragms, or pixie dust, or whatever is inside them starts to wear out and they become very inconsistent. I finally junked mine when I was having to pull out the compressor to air back up because they never stopped the air-down.

I ended up holding up the whole group because of those things, and half my tires were almost completely flat. In the long run, the captured valve core is just as fast as the automatic ones are on a good day, and way faster over time.
