Frustration can lead to bad decisions. And oh Boy was I frustrated in december. I guess a lot people were. Would I ever be able to do all the travel & adventures I long for ? What about the huge bucket list of things still to do? Well you have to start somewhere, and I always wanted to build a camper van. One week of research lead to a 400km drive and suddenly I yolo'd myself into buing an 1984 UAZ 425. It had no seatbelts and the seats no head rest, so I orderd that to be upgraded, and the carburetor need replacement. That took 3 Months as the Parts had to come from Russia. Until then I was stuck with making plans and research on material and process. I deemed myself well prepared.
Yesterday was the big day and I picked up 'Harvey Wallbanger'. The engine runs well, the brakes are good and it is really fund to drive.
The clutch need revisiting, a hopefully not to expensive process. A myriad of little things need fixing. And of course there is rust. I'm an IT guy, not a mechanic so am I way in over my head with this? 'Prolly yes. Still determined to see where it will lead me. So stay tuned for the next episode.

Hello and nice to see you! I'm from Gießen, so pretty close to ffm! Also really interested in the uaz and actually a lot of us are more or less fans of this unique vehicle!
I wish you luck and don't hesitate to ask for help, not a mechanic but wrenching for many years now and may know a thing or two.
