I am pushing to get myself started on something big in my life. Me and my wife are packing up and moving across the country from Oregon to Virginia and I figured I would ask if anybody on here has experience overlanding across the country? So far the main points I have:
1. We are making two trips, one with all the stuff and daily drivers, and the other with the overlander (1994 Mitsubishi Montero). It remains unknown if the wife will be on the second trip with the Montero.
2. I’m figuring a late August or early September departure.
3. I may have the ability to work on the road, so I was thinking about two weeks or more.
4. Thinking about minimal to no interstate.
So far this trip is in the beginning stage of planning. Anybody here have any helpful tips? Recommendations of routes? Useful tools or items I would need? I’m currently building the Montero out a bit (new suspension and tires, sleeping platform and storage) but really that was going to be it for this trip.
