I've got a '99 with the 4.0 and select trac. It's been great, although I have neglected it somewhat. At one time, I put a bit of work into it. Pretty mild - 2" Iron Rock OffRoad coil spring lift with Pro Comp 9000 series shocks. New isolators and Moog anti sway bar links.

Most if my other work on it was just keeping it going: water pump, power steering pump, window regulator, drivers door cable bundle repair, new fuel rail, starter...that type of thing.

I've let it sit a lot over the last couple years in favor of my GMC Truck but I've still got it and may select from some of your more mild upgrades and get her back in some shape

We love our old WJ, purchased it used in 2007 with 80k mile and we got rear ended by a 1ton truck three months later causing it to be an insurance total, bought it back for $500 with the intention of parting it out. We ended up rebuilding it with parts sourced from Craigslist as there happened to be a bunch of them being parted out in the same color. After another 7 years of using it as a family truckster, we put it under the knife and replaced the factory suspension with an Iron Rock Off Road 4" long arm lift. Today its still running strong with over 200k miles on it. To date the only major component that has been rebuilt is the front axle due to bad pinion bearings. The Quadra Drive and factory vari-lock differentials still perform like new. We have also added a 9k winch, Engel drawer fridge, storage drawers, Ham/GMRS & CB radios, awning and roof box for the Gazelle tent. Probably our favorite upgrade was doing fully body raptor line paint job matched to the factory color, It had held up really well to minimize the NW pinstriping and looks much better than the old fading factory paint. Getting to the point where some of the drivetrain will need refreshing, and will have to decide if we make the investment in a older rig, or upgrade to something newer. Will defiantly miss it if we upgrade, its a wonderful rig for the local adentures
