As a lifted Jeep TJ Rubicon guy I am used to running on 305 70R16s. That gives me plenty of rubber to air down. I recently bought a 2016 4Runner Trail Premium that has aftermarket 20” rims with 275 55R20 BFG ATs. The rims actually look pretty good but I’m not thrilled that they are 20s. I’m not planning on doing any rock crawling or hardcore off-roading. Interested in thoughts or concerns about running these rims for those with more experience. Thanks.

I shredded a 275/65/18 Duratrac on my LR3 before I even knew it was flat. I was on a very rocky road that might be more hard core than you think you’ll go with yours. I probably got a sidewalk puncture and couldn’t have saved it anyway, but by the time I even realized it was flat, it was shredded. I’m pretty aware what’s going on with the car. So, personally I’d ditch them. I’d love to put 17’s on mine, but they weren’t offered in North America.

That’s what I was thinking. I think I’ll run these until I need to replace tires and go with something smaller. Thanks.

The TRD Pro 17" rims Are light, stout and leave enough room to run larger brakes, (I'm not sure what size the 5th Gen Trail Premium runs) so be sure to check the inner diameter of the rim for Brake caliper clearance before purchase if switching to 17" rims since some don't clear. If I stop and think on it, I'm not sure that I've seen these on a 16+ 4runner yet so check even the TRD Pro's. I know I've seen them on a 2015 though.

AFAIK, all the 5th gens run 17" wheels. I think the TRDP ones simply have a little lower offset, or are maybe alightly wider.

I’d swap them out now. You could probably net more than enough from selling those tires and rims together, to get some 17” stock takeoffs and new tires. Rims are way easier to sell if they have decent rubber on them, and yours seem to.
