As the new owner of a 2016 Trail Premium I eventually plan on installing 3/4 or full roof rack. In the meantime I am curious about what others with more experience think of picking up a cargo basket to be used with the stock roof rails and what baskets they recommend.

IMG_20180819_190320_140.jpg ROLA. You will NOT get any cool guy points for not spending a grand, but if you want something that is going to hold together and carry your gear try them out. I have had one on my 3rd gen and now my 5th gen, and never had an issue.

Yes, that will look very cool! Here is another side shot showing the length with the extension. I have added a Rigid light bar and make a couple quick fist attachments for tools since this picture. 20180407_204809.jpg

I had a Yakima LoadWarrior with the 18” extension on Thule cross bars on my Outback, and it worked great!

When I bought my ‘16 Trail Premium, I moved the whole assembly over to the 4Runner. It was terrible!! It was so loud at 60 MPH you could barely hear each other inside. It was louder at 35 MPH than it was at 75 MPH on the Outback. I moved it forward and back to change the airflow, but nothing worked.

That’s when I ordered the full length Prinsu rack ($750.) It is just as quiet as without a rack, and much lower profile than the usual recommendations.
