I wanted to start this thread to document all of my adventures.

It's me, my 2 boys(8 &10), and our 2 dogs(Chocolate and Black Lab). We're driving a 99 K2500 Suburban.

I bought the truck with the intention of doing this, and it took me a few years to get it running, and reliable. But here we are.

Hopefully I am able to post new adventures often.

Our first trip was a very last minute ordeal. I had just finished getting everything set up, and packed into the truck in preparation of our trip at the end of the month. Then I saw all of the amazing photos of the Norther Lights, and thought we had to at least give it a shot.

So I called a few friends, and we went about 1.5-2hrs away north of Featherville Id. One of my friends already had his camper set up, so we joined him. It ended up only being an overnight trip, and we didn't get there until around 930 at night, and left at 10am the next day.

It was my kids first trip doing any real camping. I grew up on it. Thankfully they had a blast.

Some issues that came up:
Alternator issues(has now been replaced)
Lack of organization of gear/equipment in the truck.
Extreme last minute, so food and snacks were not well thought out.

You might like Softroadingthewest. He's very budget/DIY focused but also gets out on the trails a lot.
