Janelle and I are overlanding to NZ, and currently preparing to go through Nepal - Tibet - China - Laos. We need a minimum of 4 people on the trip for Visas and permits.
Here is an outline of the trip if you'd like to join us
14 Days Self-Driving Overland trip from KTM-Lhasa-Mengla Port
(17th April) Day 1: guide will assist Kyirong. Overnight at Kyirong. (B)
Nepal border to Kyirong (2600m), enter China from Kyirong port. Where our
(FYI: IF time permits obtain ATP, otherwise you can do it next day after the office opens)
(18th April) Day 2: KYIRONG TO RONGBUK(5050m) VIA PEKU LAKE (4600m) (B
Attractions: Rongbuk Monastery, EBC and Peku Lake.
(19th April) Day 3: EBC(5050m) - SHIGATSE(3900m)(360Km)(B)
Attractions: After exploring the EBC we will gradually drive to Shigatse city (3900m), 360km,
(20th April) Day 4. WORK ON MANDATORY PAPER (B)
Today our staff will go with you for necessary paper works for the trip.
(21st April) Day 5: SHIGATSE-LHASA(3650m),360Km (B)
Attractions: Karola Glacier (7200m), Yamdrok Lake (4880m)
(22nd April) Day 6.LHASA CITY TOUR (B)
(23rd April) Day 7. LHASA TO LULANG(2800m) VIA LINZHI(476Km) (B)
Attractions：Today we are heading to one of the most beautiful land in Tibet, which is often called
as Tibet Switzerland and further drive to Lulung to explore its rich forest.
(24th April) Day 8.LULANG-BOMI-RANWU TOWN (360Km,6-7 hrs)(B)
Attractions: Today, you will have few stops on the way to Ranwu town, where you can take photo
and also can explore the most beautiful glaciers in China.
(25th April) Day 9. RANWU TOWN-MARKAM(430Km),6hrs VIA G318 HIGHWAY (B)
Attractions: On the way to Markham, you will have a distinct view of Dongda Mountain Pass
(5008m), Zogang Grasslands, remote nomadic herders.
(26th April) Day10.MARKAM-DEQIN-SHANGRILA(400Km），7-8 hrs (B)
Attractions: Today, you will pass by Meili Snow Mountain, Baima Snow Mountain Pass.
(27th April) Day11. SHANGRILA-DALI (430Km),8-9hrs (B)
Attractions: Lijiang ancient town, Dali ancient town
(28th April) Day 12: DALI-KUNMING (339Km) 4-5 hrs (B)
Attractions: Morning you will visit at the Three Pagodas and Erhai lake
(29th April) Day 13. KUNMING-XISHUANGBANA VIA PUER (520Km) 8 hrs (B)
Attractions: Today, you will take the G8511 Kunmo Expressway (Highway) Stop at Yuanjiang for
lunch and views of the Red River Valley and beside can explore Puer’s tea mountains.
(30th April) Day 14：XISHUANGBANA -MOHAN BORDER(210Km), 4 hrs
Attractions: The final stop will be in Mengla County and our trip ends from here after finishing the
border formalities from China side. For others, you need to contact related agents in other countries.
(then continue your other routes from there to Laos, Laos to Thailand, and finally Thailand to
Malaysia).
