Hello, my wife and I are in the late planning stages of a month-long road trip where we will set off from the UK in the beginning of October. We are planning on getting as far east into Poland and Czechia as quick as we can as we have already been to Germany a couple times now then turn south. Our route will take us from the Krkonose mountains to the Zakopanes, south through Slovakia into Hungary. We will cross Hungary into Croatia and head towards the Plitvice lakes. Next we are heading towards the Dolomites in Italy by way of Lake Bled Slovenia. We will explore the Dolomites and Austria some before we continue towards Turin Italy. Next stop is Monaco and the south of France. From there, we will head across the Pyrenees mountains and Andorra. The last leg of the trip will be up the western side of France hitting Bordeaux, Mount St Michael, Le Mans and the Normandy beaches. We are looking for any and all tips, tricks & legalities that could help us on this excursion. We are experienced off-roaders and pretty decent at camping. This is our last big trip that we can do before we move back to the USA. A side quest of all this is to have the most traveled Jeep Gladiator in Europe Thanks ahead of time and follow the adventure Instagram!

Ok Europe is a mess of what is legal and what is not, each country is very different to the next and the further east you get the more undefined this is.

There is a project called the TET trans euro trail project. The Trans Euro Trail this is primarily a motorcycle trail, but vast selections are also usable with 4 wheels. And is a area by area issue.

If your looking for trails in a certain area then the next best thing is Wikiloc. With experience France can be a nightmare as each council/area can have different rules and normally these change at will. Simple rule in France if you meet a red circle ⭕ stop read the sign. Germany everything is banned, unless told otherwise, we were stopped and searched just because we had stuff on the roof. Italy pretty relaxed with good signage, interestinly they tend to align certain days to trail access for vehicles, Poland, can be a free for all, we were on a Tank Training ground and the police came and spoke to us just to say high and admire the rigs.

If you have a outline route plan happy to help point out where to go in West Europe, do have a Romanian contact, but as he says this can be the wild west.

I know it's a while off we have a RP up for a Alps trip next year. But there is also the OTTO RP 6th of Oct which would be a good place to meet up with OB members and other travellers.
