I tried to find out if these trucks had open differentials to no avail, LSD or Posi wasn’t invented yet so I naturally wondered about the rear axles. They must have had good ol Lincoln lockers.

I think people forget that back then all rigs where built to handle off-road because well there wasn’t a lot of roads and the roads that where there where usually tore up and ruff . People often think of these older rigs as weak frail creations but it’s the opposite .

I don't think actual differentials were used in most early cars.

Real early yes, most were one wheel chain drive. These are late model enough to have diffs

There is a family of Argentinians that have been doing a world tour in a 1928 Graham Paige since 2008. The car still has wooden wheels!

Ford basically invented the articulating rear axle, (they used a 4 spider gear differential that was preloaded with shims) that Scorpion 4x4 use as the basis for there pivoting subframe the only real difference is 100+ years of technology in suspension dampening and control.
