Shout out to race truck #7164 at the 550 mile Vegas to Reno Desert race last week…A 1987 Ford Ranger in basically stock form ( engine, trans, front and rear diffs, body, chassis and suspension with exemptions for tires and wheels as well as other minor mods. Completed the course in just over 18 hours….just 10 minutes before the official end of the race! With no radio coms! Their pit crew made up of family members went pit to pit hoping to see their truck come in for service , which it did….to all 13 pit stops….
Piloted by a Father and son team sharing driver/ navigator duties with Dad (78 Years young who also finished the Mint 400 in the same truck) pulling an all nighter to get them to the finish….And the best part…..They won their class! All this while pitted next to multi million dollar teams running Million $$ trophy trucks etc. A truly inspiring story…..
