I moved up a few months ago from my 2003 TJ and 2017 Ford Explorer (daily driver) to my 2020 Jeep JL Unlimited Rubicon Recon Edition with the 2.0T engine. For now we're calling it the Razor Crest due to our geekiness and fondness for the Mandolorian.
I've been enjoying just day outings with it so far but am looking forward to camping /overlanding with it this year.
Here's what's done so far:
- My Recon addition already included Mopar steel bumpers, LED lighting, and heavy duty tailgate hinge, tow package with aux switches installed, cold weather package. This is in addition to the Rubicon features (lockers, sway bar disconnect, 4.10 gears, 33" mud tires, etc.)
- Midland Mxt115 GMRS with 6db whip antenna
- Handheld Midland CB radio (for trail rides only)
- Warn winch plate
- Smittybilt X20 12k winch (synthetic)
- XG Gama mounted Cargo bags that mount to rear sport bar in the side window space
- Frontrunner tailgate table (Love this!)
- Hitch receiver for D shackle (to add closed recovery point)
- First aid kit, recovery gear, fire extinguisher, collapsible shovel
- Iceco 12v fridge/freezer
- Lots of existing camping gear
- 2 plano trunk boxes
- 1 pair of snow chains
- Retrofit Offroad Rotopax mounting plate by spare tire
- 1.75 gallon Rotopax fuel cell
- 2 gallon Rotopax water container
- Rotopax mount with locking core (for mounting plate)
- Jeep roof rails (gutter mounted, ~150 lb limit)
- ROLA roof basket and bungie net
- Ironman 4x4 awning with LED lighting, 2 m x 2.5 m
- Tailgate window overhead LED lighting
- Gazelle T4 Overland edition tent
- portable battery for fridge
- Baja Designs Amber Squadron Sport combo drive/flood lights added to front bumper.
Not installed yet:
- Warn winch isolator for battery
- VisionX VL series single work light to be installed on spare tire bracket for improved reverse light.
Future plans:
- 35" tires (once 33" tires need replaced)
- skid protection
- ???
