New to overland bound and looking for suggestions on how to prioritize a full overlanding build. Currently have a 2019 Chevy Colorado z71 with Peak Suspension kit installed. I am anticipating doing bumper upgrades so I chose to add a leaf in the rear and increased spring rate on the front coil overs, truck drives like beauty. I also have a retractable tonneau cover with t slot rails built in so I can attach a bed rack to it.

Any suggestions Chevy Colorado specific or general build tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Aftermarket bumpers add a lot of weight. I went with a hiddon winch on my truck and still added 125lbs. Relentless are probably the best for bumpers. Check out Timbren off road bump stops, great upgrade. 589Fab shock relocation is a major upgrade for ground clearance. Are you thinking rack and RTT? I wanted to keep the CG as low as possible so I went with a softopper and decked system. Trifecta tune is worth the cost, really improves the drivability of the truck. Gears are a nice upgrade. AEV wheel well kit and 33"s.

Even the midwest overland center winch bumper weighs 78lbs without a winch add another 80lbs for the winch, the fed ex guys called yesterday and said my aev rear bumper thats coming today weighs 140lbs then there are 78" sliders that weigh probably around 60-70 lbs each. Armor definitely gets heavy and no matter what lift or shocks ive used the front still looses at least 1" so my lift has to be 1" more than I want to compensate, I don't mind if the rear looses a inch. I suppose it don't help the front end weight that I have a diesel.
I haven't even added skid plate weight that another probably 40-50lbs under the front half of the truck.

If its a 4x4 your stock truck will go quite a few places offroad you just need to be careful of the plastic skids and the body on rocks and logs. First thing I found I needed when I got my truck was to switch to mud tires I had my truck stuck in wet grass in my front lawn because of the stock 31s, had to use a tractor to pull it out. That made me just a little angry and showed me a/t tires aren't all terrain at all and don't belong on my 4x4.
Since the switch to mud tires ive not been stuck due to lack of tire, ive been hung up on the frame a few times getting high centered though that is one of the major pitfalls of the colorado the breakover angle sucks bad.
Other than that if you haven't already remove the air damn up front and put the spare in the bed for better approach and departure angles.

A Pedal commander will get rid of the sloppy gas pedal, id do that before tuning i have both the pedal commander and a green diesel engineering tune if I turn my tune down to stock and turn the pedal commander up I can't tell there isn't a tune, with both on ill give camaros a run for their money at a light.
