Hey everyone, I have a 2018 Impreza as my daily driver and I want to turn it into a slightly more capable rig. Not necessarily for heavy off roading, but if I find myself on a rough logging road or anything, I don’t want to worry about bottoming out over a rock or something. Any help is greatly appreciated!

They are already rally cars shouldnt they have suspension that can handle mild whoops? My best guess would be some adjustable coilovers maxed out on the highest setting.

Start from the ground up. Upgrade your tires first. An all terrain tire is recommended. Because Subarus are low to the ground compared to a truck, you could get some undercarriage armor, it's not necessary but piece of mind. You could upgrade your springs if/ when you start carrying more gear. You could get a two inch lift too. If you carry more and more gear a regear might be in order. On IG check out RalliTek, Stormtrooper Crosstrek, and LP Aventure for ideas on what you could achieve with your Subie.

There are plenty of subaru performance specialists out there but many are focused on the wrx/sti or (to a lesser extent) Outback platforms. Since you didn't specify your sub model in the thread, I'll assume you have a non-turbo Impreza.

I've owned a fair few subarus in the past and I've found Primitive Racing to have plenty of good options for skids, bash plates, lifts/struts/shocks, and misc. accessories.

In all honesty, skids and tires are your best option. There is a point of diminishing return when heavily modifying a vehicle with minimal aftermarket support or built in benefit (i.e: factory ground clearance). Most easily accessible forest roads in the NW are fine for subarus except for the risk to low hanging fruit (i.e: oil pan, diff, trans pan). A size up in tires with a slightly more aggressive pattern will give you a bump in ground clearance and traction. Then a couple aluminum skids to protect your wallet while in the dirt. After those basic upgrades I'd stop and evaluate if it fits your needs or if it would be more cost effective to look into another platform.

Good luck,
Cheers
