Looking to build my 2018 Chevy Colorado slowly but surely. What are some must do’s and must haves? Also I’m very new to this most off roaring thing I’ve ever done is taking my side by side out to the mud parks where we carried fuel tools and a spare wheel and tire plus our food and slept in the trailers

I had a 2018 ZR2. First thing's first: get some ground clearance up front! I started off by just cutting off the stupid air dam because it actually led to me getting stuck once, but I eventually replaced the whole bumper with a Westin tube bumper with skid plate. Biggest mod we did otherwise was go up a bit in tire size with a more aggressive tread (Goodyear Ultraterrains) with a 2" front level kit for a bit more clearance and a lot more traction. With this setup we did a lot of the passes in Colorado prior to trading in for our Bison.

Must do - get out learn what your rig is capable of. Have a great time doing it.

Must haves - camping gear, extra water, and whatever you want to have when you get where you’re going : hiking boots, fishing poles - whatever it is that you enjoy doing. Go a lot and then get what you need to make things more enjoyable. Everyone’s required gear list will be different. Don’t get too caught up in the gear until you’ve gone a few times.

Nice man and me and my best friend removed it the day after I brought it home! No jack or anything so it was tight but we got it. Me and the wife are looking at a 2” level for now and hopefully I can run 33’s on these stocks with minor trimming if needed

Yea we can’t wait to get out and see what the truck will do! We love fishing and and just hanging out around a campfire, we won’t have too many big mods or gear purchases happening anytime time soon till she is out of college! But can’t wait

welcome! Ill say this, these trucks are fantastic but they have some pretty vulnerable areas underneath. underbody armor is an absolute must, if its a 3.6L then an exhaust crossover skid is highly recommended.

the ZR2 skids will bolt on
CBI
589 FAB
AEV

they all make full sets

With a 2" level you are near the oem height of the ZR2, 265/67 or maybe 265/70's should clear. Tire width and rim offset play a part in this. A 255/80 is 33" and clears a ZR2 with level and trim.

tire choice will make a big difference as well. Im on a 2" level and my Milestar 265/70 rubbed quite a bit, had to trim waffle and pinch weld, still rubs in some spots under articulation. a less aggressive tire would clear.
